Feast on chocolate, wine and other delights in the Rhone valley before heading to the spiritual peace of Le Puy-en-Velay in the heart of the country, a town renowned for its sacred monuments and the starting point of the oldest French route on the Way of St James.
For eight glorious days we will walk from east to west along the le Puy Route—through the volcanic Auvergne plateau, over valleys and ranges, through pine groves, meadows and picturesque villages, past castles, historical monuments, shrines and ancient bridges, to the medieval, cobblestoned city of Conques.
From Conques, it’s on to the ancient pilgrimage site of Rocamadour which offers a spectacular views over the Dordogne valley—the perfect place to contemplate all that has been revealed on this sacred journey before ending our French Revelation in the rose-tinted sheen of Toulouse.
So dust off your phrasebook, put on some French music – “La Vie en Rose” perhaps – and prepare to discover, dream, contemplate, reflect and replenish your spirit in the heart of France. Who knows what will be revealed?
